The Pondok Permata is nicely set up so that there is a feeling of genuine Bali family and hospitality, but with nice separate accommodation for guests. There is a genuine interest in Bali culture with the family involved in Balinese music and dance. Even some nice jegog music in the evenings accompanied by the singing frogs. The Pondok provides nice breakfasts and snacks and very near there is a very good and very cheap restaurant with Indonesian and Japanese foods.
With a car or bike, the Pondok Permata is perfectly positioned above Ubud. But otherwise guests would mainly need to arrange lifts or use taxis.

Beautiful place to stay and the family takes really great care of you while you're a guest. They brought a scooter for us to rent for $6/day and also organized someone to drive us a few hours away when we left. The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable, they are kept clean every day, and they offer a nice breakfast in the morning (they bring it right to your room!). They have a very cute 5 month old puppy that loves to play. Each room feels very intimate and you are a 5-10min scooter ride outside the city and the monkey forest so it's nice and peaceful without all the chaos of central Ubud. One of the highlights of our 6- month trip for sure!

We had an absolutely mind-blowing experience at this homestay! The breakfast was super tasty and the staff were jaw-droppingly friendly. The location was perfect for a peaceful getaway and being able to rent bikes and scooters added to the adventure. The room was spacious and clean, with a flat-screen TV and an electric kettle. The staff's assistance was exceptional, with express check-in/out and 24-hour reception. The tour options were amazing, including hiking, cycling, fishing, snorkelling, diving. The in-room breakfast was a delightful start to the day. The whole experience was top-notch and we can't recommend this place enough!

It is a nice homestay about a 20 minute walk from the city centre whose owner Ketut is a very nice host, we made a trip with him in the surroundings and he provided us with information on various aspects of the Balinese life and culture - for this we are grateful. We even visited with him an agri-farm and could see all tropical trees, plants and spices, our visit to Kunung Kawi was memorable, too and our walk in the rice fields around Ubud will remain in my heart forever!! Breakfast was OK and the room, too. Simply, nice and kind people. Thank you!
The lights in the room are too weak for reading.

Incredibly friendly hosts! This is a great place to experience the real Bali hospitality. The rooms are quite basic but nevertheless good price- quality ratio. Breakfasts differ everyday and are absolutely wonderful! Rooms are cleaned every day.
The homestay is a good 20min walk from the centre of Ubud but it's not too expensive to take a taxi. On the first floor the rooms are open and you can hear your neighbours quite easily.
